Ricky Ponting is one of cricket’s all-time greats and Australia's most successful captain. Born on December 19, 1974, in Launceston, Tasmania, Ponting led Australia to two ICC World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007. Known for his aggressive leadership and classy strokeplay, he scored over 27,000 international runs across formats, including 71 centuries. After retiring in 2012, Ponting transitioned into a respected coach and commentator. His legacy as a fierce competitor and tactical genius continues to influence modern Australian cricket. He is affectionately nicknamed “Punter.”
